THE CSCP Philosophy

Creativity— There is always something new. Look for inspiration in your surrounding community and among your peers. Look far and take notes. There is comfort in the familiar, but we grow and our projects get better when we scare ourselves a little. As Kurt Vonnegut wrote in If This Isn’t Nice, What Is? Advice for the Young, “We have to continually be jumping off cliffs and developing our wings on the way down.”

Connectivity — Opportunities abound. It can be easy to miss them when we settle into looking constantly from the same perspective. Connectivity provides opportunities to welcome in new ideas and new potential supporters and collaborators. More importantly, we must seek connections because we will never know all of the events that we may set in motion. As Mr. Fred Rogers said, “If you could only see how important you are in the lives of those you meet; how important you can be to the people you may never even dream of. There is something of yourself that you leave at every meeting with another person.”

Collaboration — Through collaboration, our efforts are magnified, our programs grow in longevity, and monstrous projects become manageable. We can dream bigger when we collaborate. We make new discoveries and bold choices through collaboration. As fashion designer and entrepreneur Virgil Abloh stated, “The whole point of collaboration is that you give and take from eachohter, and that’s how you create things that are totally new.”
